Tub Ring Snubber

Procedure for Gathering Failure Confirmation Data

  1. Unplug the washer.
  2. Pull the washer away from the wall.
  3. (Figure 1) Get a putty knife and slide it in between the top and the cabinet about 2.5" in from each corner to release the clips holding the top down. Push in and pull up on the knife to release the clips. Don't use a screwdriver for this step or you will damage the washer finish.
  4. (Figure 2) Lift the washer top up and slowly swing it back against the wall behind the washer.
  5. Locate the snubber and spring assembly that is resting on the tub ring in the rear right hand corner of the cabinet.
  6. Is the grey plastic snubber worn away or is there dirt anddetergent under it so that it can easily slide around on its plate?
  7. If most of the snubber has worn away, replace it because itcan't absorb as much unbalanced tub energy if it isn't all there. If the snubber plate is dirty and presenting little friction forthe snubber, remove the snubber and clean it and the plate andmake sure they are dry.

Snubber Replacement Procedure

  1. Raise the washer top using the failure confirmation procedure above.
  2. Locate the snubber and spring assembly that is resting on thetub ring in the rear right hand corner of the cabinet.
