The most common console for the Sears belted washer is the "black-faced" console with the imitation wood finish top. The cabinet top is made from soft aluminum and therefore can be straightened out if it has some small dents. If the black paint and any of the lettering have been scraped off, a new overlay may be ordered from McDonnell's Mechanical Maintenance at (702) 649-5760.
If just a few flakes of the console black paint have come off, it can be replaced by spraying high gloss black paint on a Q-Tip and dabbing it on the spots where the paint is missing.
