Spinning

The timer will spin the clothes for several minutes to get most of the water out of the clothes. The drive motor starts in the clockwise direction. Just enough tension is applied by the springs on the motor mount to allow the transmission drive pulley to slowly start spinning while the motor drive pulley will slip against the belt. As the basket picks up speed, the drive motor is slipping less and less until the basket is turning at full speed with no slippage.

Another belt turns the water pump in the "pump out" direction to remove the water that is being spun out of the clothes.

At the end of the spin cycle power is removed from the drive motor and the spin brake will bring the basket to a complete stop within a few seconds.
