The blower draws moisture-laden air from the drum and pushes it out the dryer vent. Lint, light pieces of wood or plastic and other items from your clothes are drawn into the exhaust port of the drum and are normally trapped in the lint filter.
Sometimes the heavier items drop down the lint filter chute when the lint filter is pulled out. The lint filter is usually cleaned when the dryer is off. The debris usually falls into places where it will be drawn out immediately after the dryer is started again. You will hear a brief racket as the blower wheel kicks the debris around inside the blower housing and then out the dryer vent. Sometimes the heavier items get lodged in the chute where the blower wheel can't lift them out. If you move the dryer to a new location, a bouncy ride will dislodge these items and they will settle down in the bottom of the blower housing. When you start the dryer for the first time, there will be a loud racket as the debris is discharged out the dryer vent. Although the noises may be alarming, debris in the blower is rarely a problem since the blower wheel is tough enough to win out in a contest with the foreign material as it is being discharged.
